Essentially unusable.
For governor switch-starting single-phase motors, the auxiliary windings will be burned in the speed range below the operating point; for capacitor starting or capacitor operation, the capacitor will be induced to explode.
The power supply of frequency converter is usually 3-phase, but for small capacity, there are also single-phase power supply operation models.
I.The basic function and working principle of frequency converter
Inverter, as a kind of power control equipment, its main function is to control the speed of AC motor by changing the frequency and voltage of power supply.
Its working principle roughly includes the steps of rectification (converting AC to DC), filtering (stabilizing DC voltage), and inversion (converting DC to frequency-adjustable AC again).
This process enables the inverter to achieve precise control of the motor speed, but also has the function of energy saving and motor protection.
II.Single-phase motor and three-phase motor differences
Single-phase motors and three-phase motors in the structure and principle of operation there are significant differences.
Single-phase motor is usually only a working winding and a start winding (or called auxiliary winding), and the need to use external equipment (such as capacitors) to realize the start and operation.
The three-phase motor has three symmetrical windings, can be directly through the three-phase AC power supply, without additional starting equipment.
III.The feasibility of inverter-driven single-phase motor
- Direct connection: the standard inverter is mainly designed for three-phase motors, and its output is usually three-phase, so it can not be directly connected to the input of single-phase motors.
- Special design: there exist in the market inverters designed specifically for single-phase motors, which are optimized in terms of internal circuitry and control algorithms to adapt to the operating characteristics of single-phase motors.
